The Canadian wildfire season has already begun, and western provinces are preparing for 2024 to be potentially more devastating than last year, which shattered records with 18.5 million hectares of land burned.
One of the things that I notice walking through the streets of England—but not only in England—is the almost complete lack of self-respect of the population. Self-esteem, of course, is another matter entirely: Most people are on the qui vive for anything that they think might be regarded as an assault on their dignity as the bearer of human rights, ever growing in number, complexity, and self-contradiction.
They’re this desperate:
On the CBC At Issue panel, Chantal Hebert claims with great certainty that any use federally of the notwithstanding clause will lead to its use for abortion. No objection from the others! 🤦♂️ pic.twitter.com/wOra2gPoPv

A majority of Americans believe that mail-in ballot fraud tainted the 2020 election, but most state and federal officials continue to pretend the results were aboveboard. A majority of Americans wish to put an end to mass illegal immigration, but the Department of Homeland (in)Security continues to do nothing to protect our borders from foreign invasion. A majority of Americans are worried about rising inflation, but the federal government continues to print and spend money and issue costly regulations. A majority of Americans oppose widespread government surveillance programs that intrude upon their privacy, but elected officials continue to give the Intelligence Blob full access to Americans’ most sensitive records and communications, in total disregard for the Constitution’s protections against warrantless searches. A majority of Americans distrust mainstream news sources, but prominent news organizations continue to push ideological propaganda at the expense of truthful and objective reporting.
A very well-informed friend of many years, a contemporary of mine, wrote me the other day that “The blood libel against Canada of this monstrous fiction of thousands of secretly buried Indigenous victims of residential schools may be the single worst injustice this country has suffered in our lifetimes. It is now a conspiracy of silence involving both federal and provincial governments, the RCMP (shameless and useless as ever), and the media, and ‘let’s be frank,’ (quoting a Soviet diplomatic many years ago whom we both always found rather entertaining in the utter nonsense he used to recite at international meetings), a large section of the public, which knows this to be a falsehood but chooses to side with the silent forces.“
This clip is unbelievable. Trudeau basically admits he is punishing “older generations” because now their money is working for them, instead of the kids today who have to work hard for it. How did he think the older generations got their money? They had to work hard. He’s insane. pic.twitter.com/GbYZLl8WnY

It is probably the case that politicians who are encouraged to read the works of the ancient Greek thinker, Plato – particularly The Republic – to learn something there about the prerequisites for being able to govern appropriately and wisely, would scoff at this suggestion, with perhaps a few rare exceptions. More specifically, among these prerequisites Plato counted an understanding of the ‘nature’ of human beings – their ‘soul’ or psuche (where our word, psyche, comes from). To the question of why Plato would consider it essential for rulers to understand the people whom they govern, the answer should be obvious: unless you have a grasp of how these creatures think, what they desire, and so on, your governance may just flounder against the rock of misunderstanding.
There is no depth to which the Trudeau Liberals won’t sink.
It appears House of Commons records were altered to support the Speaker’s partisan decision to kick me out of the House.

If we believe history, which is becoming more and more of a skeptics allusive magic trick, the Minoan society, a highly advanced peaceful society, was wiped out by the Myceneans’ because they didn’t like them. The Galatians from the Bible disappeared from existence because the Romans – didn’t like them. The Aztecs disappeared – and no ‘expert historian’ knows why. The Anasazi disappeared – the civilization on Easter Island gone – Mayans gone – and despite these civilizations being advanced some reaching into 1400 AD – there is no explanation. Only guesses.
These spoilt, miserable, demanding, ill-disciplined, and useless children are allergic to work.
The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) said the Canadian government has shown a blatant disregard for public servants by requiring them to work in person at least three days per week.
