Good article by VDH on the hubris of the Washington Establishment.
The traditional way of looking at the developing scandals at the FBI and among holdover Obama appointees in the DOJ is that the bizarre atmospherics from candidate and President Trump have simply polarized everyone in Washington, and no one quite knows what is going on.
Another, more helpful, exegesis, however, is to understand that if we’d seen a Hillary Clinton victory in November 2016, which was supposed to be a sure thing, there would now be no scandals at all.
McCabe is the subject of at least one internal DOJ investigation, maybe more than one. DOJ inspector general Michael Horowitz has been investigating politically motivated behavior at the bureau during the 2016 election. One source told us that McCabe’s resignation is likely tied to Horowitz’s work.

One swamp drain plug has been pulled.
[A clearly partisan] Schiff and his fellow Democrats have protested the release of the memo, which they claim is a set of talking points aimed at discrediting Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation. The Justice Department also expressed concern last week over the release of the report, saying that it could harm national security interests if sensitive information about sources and investigative methods are disclosed.
…
He also said that Republicans revealed during Monday’s meeting that the committee has opened an investigation into the FBI and Justice Department.
We may have another perspective if the memo is released.
Update:
According to FOX News, Mccabe was “removed” from the FBI.

Katie Hopkins on the exodus from Western European shitholes.
There is hope still. Many have shared the joy and delight at their exodus from West to East – to Hungary, to Poland, and the Czech Republic. Some say Eastern Europe is the only place they feel truly safe. These people have the same hope that I heard from Steve, recounting his journey to Australia, so many years before.
Plus the state of American journalism, and the abortion industry versus illegal immigration.
Another nail in the EU coffin.
He has benefited from rising Czech hostility to immigration, especially from Muslim countries, although the country received just 116 asylum applications between January and November last year.
The country has a Muslim minority of just several thousand but warnings of security risks and loss of identity feature strongly in public debate.
Scott Moe has big shoes to fill.
Scott Moe has been elected to replace Brad Wall as leader of the Saskatchewan Party — and 15th premier of the province.
He won on the fifth and final ballot at the Saskatchewan Party leadership convention Saturday in Saskatoon. He took 8,075 votes, or 53.87 per cent.
Interesting article. Trying to delegitimize your political enemies does not make them go away, as the US establishment is now well aware. Four former Soviet-block countries, the Visegrad Four, love their cultures more than dictates from Brussels, and populism is on the rise in their Western-European counterparts.
These central Europeans see themselves as the true Europe. One which values the nation state, the family, prudential politics, the Christian religion, and majoritarian democracy — and sees them as more authentic echoes of European tradition. So their tussles with Brussels are not about being anti-European, but a battle over what it means to be European.
Lurch lurches. If this is true, Kerry is in contravention of the Logan Act.
Former Secretary of State John Kerry reportedly sought to undermine the Trump administration’s current policy in dealing with the nihilist Palestinian leadership. According to an article appearing in Maariv, as quoted by the Jerusalem Post, Kerry met a senior Palestinian leader, Hussein Agha, in London recently and told him to convey a clandestine message to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The message was that Abbas should “play for time” and “not yield to President [Donald] Trump’s demands.” Kerry reportedly predicted that President Trump would not be in office for long – perhaps not more than a year. Possibly for that reason, Kerry allegedly advised that the Palestinians should aim their criticisms at President Trump personally, rather than more broadly at the United States. According to the report, Kerry also offered to help the Palestinians devise an alternative peace plan and advance it with Europeans, Arab states and the international community at large. Finally, Kerry reportedly told Agha that he was seriously considering running for president in 2020, as if he had not done enough damage to U.S. national security already in negotiating, for example, the disastrous nuclear deal with Iran.
Another nail in the EU’s coffin?
“Finland is a little bit late if you compare it to other European countries – anti-immigration parties are winning and people are waking up everywhere. They’re waking up now here, too.”
Miraculously, he survived.
My dear old Dad used to say that a woman with her skirt up runs faster than a man with his pants down.
Timing is everything. Patrick Brown was judgemoored.
It means that every man in the world is vulnerable, not because he has necessarily misconducted himself, but because a woman may say he has. The truth of the alleged misconduct — did it happen? Were there mitigating circumstances? Does the accuser have motive to lie? — is incidental, if not irrelevant.
Germany’s Police State: the Stasi is back.
It is regrettable that Germany, which can barely keep up with the terrorism threat and the wave of violent crime, is spending such vast resources on shutting down the free speech of its citizens on social media. The Federal Department of Justice has rented additional offices in Bonn to house approximately 50 new lawyers and administrators to implement the new law and ensure that the social media providers delete “offending posts” within 24 hours. “It was also important that we created a new file management system,” explains Thomas W. Ottersbach of the Federal Office of Justice in Bonn.
